The Department of Radio diagnosis from its inception, continues to play an important and significant role in the over all health care and academic activities of the Institute.
The Department is well equipped with various Imaging Equipment such as conventional and multi slice Whole Body CT Scanners, Ultrasound equipments with color Doppler, X-Ray Machines like 500 MA X-Ray Unit with fluoroscopy, Three Portable X-Ray Units and a Mammography unit are available.The Department of Radiodiagosis also has PACS facility by which it provides digital films .
The department imparts radio-diagnostic and imaging expertise to its residents through its central and emergency radio-diagnostics lab equipped with various recent and hi-tech radio-diagnostic modalities.
The broad goal of teaching the undergraduate medical students in the field of Radio-diagnosis should be aimed at making the students realise the basic need of various radio-diagnostic tools in medical practice. They should be aware of the techniques required to be undertaken in different situations for the diagnosis of various ailments as well as during prognostic estimations.
At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
Understand basics of X-ray production, its uses and hazards.
Appreciate and diagnose changes in bones – like fractures, infections, tumours and metabolic bone diseases.
Identify and diagnose various radiological changes in disease conditions of chest and mediastinum, skeletal system, G.I. Tract, Hepatobiliary system and G.U. system.
Learn about various imaging techniques, including isotopes C.T., Ultrasound, M.R.I. and D.S.A
